Well, what most of you probable know is that Halloween and Trick-or-treating are a customary practice for children in America. Children in costumes travel from house to house in order to ask for treats such as candy with the question "Trick or treat?" What some of you didn't know is that it isn't a true American custom. Trick-or-treating resembles the late medieval practice of souling, when poor folk would go door to door on Hallowmas (November 1), receiving food in return for prayers for the dead on All Souls Day (November 2). It originated in Ireland and Britain, although similar practices for the souls of the dead were found as far south as Italy. The custom of wearing costumes and masks at Halloween goes back to Celtic traditions of attempting to copy the evil spirits or placate them. All Hallowe'en customs in the United States are borrowed directly or adapted from those of other countries.
The reason why I mention this is because most people only know what they wanna know.
For instants, Im a (club)deejay and deejaying is my main focus (Im not a producer). So when I first started (15) deejaying I was playing house music on vinyl (at that time I also liked disco, soul, funk, pop, rock, mostly music my parents listen to - but for me it was easier to listen/learn how to mix a beat with housemusic). Anyways after training my ears and manage to mix properly I got bored with house music only so I stepped up my "game". I got in touch with my creative side and started mixing and scratching Hip hop/RnB and all the other genres together to challenge myself (People who are also deejaying maybe recognize this when I say that its different at first but basically the same when you get the hang of it).
At that time my interest in music became bigger and bigger, and to make a long story short I felt in love with a sound called 2-step/UKGarage. So in 2001 I'd joined a crew (Liquid Productions) which urned their stripes by given UKG parties (High Velocity) in Groningen (NL). Unfortunately the UKG scene in Holland collapse after a couple of years and with many sold out editions so does the crew. Because of my background with music and passion for deejaying I already had made some connections in other scenes, so I could start deejaying at different party's.
Mostly Hip Hop/RnB party's and that's one of the reasons people think they know me by telling Im a deejay that play's stricly Hip Hop/RnB music. The only person I can blame for this I guess, is myself cause A) it's been a while since I dropped a mix-tape and B) the last two mix-tapes, Slicker than your Average 1 & 2, are both Hip Hop & RnB related .
But if you ask me which kind of style I prefer than I would say that Im a musiclover and like most of all genres thats soulfull, funky or groovey but with a passion for the UK bass sounds .
So with this being said you now know what this tape is all about..
Different genres (UKGHouseElectroDubstepHiphop) melted together
- Eclectic as they call it nowadays - With a Halloween twist.
And like America I borrowed directly or adapted from those of other music genres
Hope you will enjoy all the CLASSIC joints, EPIC tracks and even some TERRIFYING beats
